Libby Tucker, a 19-year-old headstrong aspiring actress, impulsively hitchhikes from New York to Hollywood to visit her long-estranged screenwriter father Herbert. It soon becomes clear that the underemployed father and his hairdresser girlfriend Steffy are in no position to advance her career, and he is certainly not the successful hero she has imagined. Father and daughter piece together their pasts, uncover truths about themselves and lay the ground for a future in this tender and vibrant comedy.
