Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. at Area Stage Company

The Area Stage Company and Theatre Conservatory is really proud to announce the opening of it’s 2016-2017 Conservatory Season and it’s Theatre Inclusion Program (TIP) with an exciting production of the classic Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. 

The story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

There will be two different group performances. The first with the Conservatory Program students from October 14 through the October 24.

The second group, is performed by students of our Theatre Inclusion Program (TIP) which Area Stage Company started three years ago. It is a first-of-its kind performing arts-based initiative for students with disabilities. We invite enjoy the season’s “inclusion musicals”, full-scale productions performed with “partner” actors from ASC’s award-winning conservatory program.Through group classes, performance opportunities and community outreach, TIP actors hone valuable social, language and developmental abilities, creating memorable performances and building important life skills while experiencing the joy of live theatre. TIP instructors and directors are trained industry professionals.
