Carolyn Dorfman Dance at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center

The Miami Dance Festival presents Carolyn Dorfman Dance! With bold athleticism and dramatic nuance, Dorfman creates rich “worlds” into which the audience can enter. Her 10- member, multi-ethnic company performs nationally and internationally and is described as “ingenious” (Star-Ledger), “emotionally resonant” (New York Times) and “dancers with a four octave range” (Choreographer Doug Elkins). The dance festival presents the Miami premiere of three award winning works, including her visually stunning tour de force, INTERIOR DESIGNS (ID), a work where art and technology meet to create an unforgettably human experience. Hailed by the Star Ledger in 2013 as a top 10 dance events in NYC/NJ, ID “employs the latest X-box technology… it spills across the line that separates audience members from performers drawing everyone into its complex, digital world…”

The evening also includes NARCOLEPTIC LOVERS, guest choreographer’s Doug Elkins’ electric and oft hilarious, full company work. Elkins describes the work as a series of letters to former lovers. Danced full out by the company, using his signature eclectic movement vocabulary, the work draws on modern, hip-hop, ballet and martial arts with an equally broad range of music – Mozart, hip-hop by Urban Species and spoken word and music by Sinead O’Connor and Lenny Bruce.
