One of the great Broadway musicals of all time comes to A.C.T.: "Cabaret" (1998 Broadway Revival). Even if you have seen it, you will be delighted by our unique approach to this twelve-time Tony winner. Alternately saucy and insinuating; fresh, crisp and seductive; cruel and menacing, the musical is set in a Berlin nightclub as the 1920s draw to a close. A garish Master of Ceremonies at the seedy Kit Kat Klub welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all of their outside troubles inside the "Cabaret"!
Boasting over 4,000 Broadway performances, "Cabaret" was written by Joe Masteroff with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The 1998 revival at Studio 54 played 2,377 performances with a return in 2014. It became the third longest-running revival in Broadway musical history.
A.C.T. never shies away from a playwrights emotional impact, and knowing the storys end makes it no less moving. The theme has not lost its relevance today, but art hopefully helps us forge ahead. Director Heidi Condon said, This production of "Cabaret" is like nothing else you've seen.
Catch your breath between the laughs and the tension of this Tony Award-winning musical. Join us to forget your outside troubles inside the "Cabaret" at A.C.T. on Jan. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19.
