Museum of Art and Design at MDC presents Black Power Naps/Siestas Negras, an immersive, multi-sensory installation offering rest as a form of reparations. Created by artists Navild Acosta and Fannie Sosa, the installation invites visitors to lounge on a variety of embellished beds, replete with gauzy canopies, serene lighting, therapeutic sound vibrations, and other restorative props. On Thursday, December 5, artists Navild Acosta and Fannie Sosa will activate the installation with a Platonic Play Party Workshop, a playful event incorporating movement, sound, and discussion.Black Power Naps/Siestas Negras is part of Where the Oceans Meet, an exhibition of modern and contemporary art that resonates with the pioneering thought of two Caribbean writers, Lydia Cabrera and douard Glissant.
