The World Premiere of Michael McKeever's The Impressionists is April 9, 2006 at Caldwell Theatre Company. The Impressionists is a dramatic play about the origins of The Impressionist Movement. It is infused with humanity, heartbreak and humor showing artists as people who overcame struggles and hardships to successfully pursue their dream of a new art form. In this World Premiere, multiple award-winning playwright Michael McKeever explores the relationships between the friends who made up an artist Salon in Paris in the 1860s.
For the first time starting with The Impressionists, Caldwell will introduce a video projection system that will be incorporated into its traditional stage design, adding a variety of elements that will enhance the theatrical experience.

Michael McKeever (Playwright) has seen his plays produced Off Broadway, as well as throughout America and Europe. Productions include: Charlie Cox Runs with Scissors (Marin Theatre Company, Marin County; Florida Stage, Manalapan; Phoenix Theatre, Indianapolis; National New Play Network Finalist); Open Season (Hollywood Playhouse, Hollywood; Charlotte Rep New Play Festival); The Garden of Hannah List (Hypothetical Theatre Co., New York; Florida Stage, Manalapan); 37 Postcards (Kammerspiele, Vienna; Komedie Dresden; Hudson Stage Company, New York; Florida Studio, Sarasota; New Theatre, Miami); The Velveteen Undertow (Palm Beach Dramaworks); Sexy & Miggs (Key West Theatre Festival; New Theatre, Miami); Don't Tell the Tsar (Caldwell Theatre Company, Boca Raton); and Wait and See (New Theatre, Miami). Citations and awards include: 2 South Florida Critics' Association Carbonell Awards (The Garden of Hannah List, Running with Scissors, Best New Work); 3 Curtain Up Awards (Running With Scissors, Sexy & Miggs, Open Season, Best New Work); The Anna Sosenko Assist Trust; The Hartt School (University of Hartford) New Play Festival Fellowship; and 2 Florida Individual Artist Fellowships. He has been a finalist several times at both the Key West Theatre Festival and the Sarasota Festival of New Plays. He resides in South Florida and is a member of the Dramatists Guild and Actors' Equity.
