The Sisters Rosensweig is Wendy Wasserstein's award winning play (Outer Critics Circle Award - Best Play 1993 and Tony Nomination for Best Play) about three Brooklyn Jewish Sisters, a furrier and a bisexual theatre director trying to define themselves and search for happiness in a world that is increasingly complicated and confusing. The three sisters come together at a reunion in London for the eldest's 54th birthday. One sister clings to her Jewish Heritage, another clings to her new British identity, while another travels the world as a "wandering Jew" identifying with the downtrodden in third world countries. Add to the mix a "bisexual" theatrical director running away from his sexuality, a Jewish furrier trying to find happiness in a woman who is emotionally unavailable, and a daughter who is running off with her Liverpool boyfriend.

The Sisters Rosensweig was written by the late Wendy Wasserstein, a popular, funny playwright who wrote of an era of strong but feminine women. Her plays include; "The Heidi Chronicles," "Uncommon Woman," and "Isn't It Romantic." Miss Wasserstein died at age 55 of lymphoma.

Rising Action Theatre's production includes; Merry Jo Cortada (11 0' Clock Number,) Elizabeth Garrard (Grandma Sylvia's Funeral,) Ellen Wacher (Rumors,) Steve Solomon (House of Blue Leaves,) Larry Fields (Fantasy Theatre Factory,) Jerry Jensen (Footloose,) and Emi Artechee (Les Miserables.)

The Sisters Rosensweig is directed by Rising Action's Artistic Director, David Goldyn, who directed last year's productions of "Southern Baptist Sissies" and "Last Hairdresser."
