WINTER SHORTS 2018 - A Jolly Program Of New Short Plays That Celebrate The Holidays!  ImageCity Theatre (@citytheatremia) and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter) are proud to present WINTER SHORTS, America's Short Play Winter Festival. WINTER SHORTS, the festive version of City Theatre's renowned Summer Shorts: America's Short Play Festival, runs from December 6-23 in the Arsht Center's intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House), under the direction of City Theatre Artistic Director Margaret M. Ledford.

The Arsht Center's 2018-2019 Theater Up Close Series is generously supported by Adrianne and Jerry L. Cohen, Alan and Diane Lieberman, Hotel Croydon Miami Beach and WLRN.

General admission tickets to WINTER SHORTS range from $39-$54* and may be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center Box Office by calling (305) 949-6722, or online at www.arshtcenter.org. Exclusive VIP tickets range from $54-$69* and include reserved up-front cabaret seating, a drink ticket, and a holiday gift from City Theatre.

WINTER SHORTS features a cast of South Florida all-stars and a hilarious collection of holiday-themed short plays. Now in its second season at the Arsht Center, WINTER SHORTS is a fast and furious, naughty and nice, 90-minute theatrical treat with no intermission.

WINTER SHORTS 2018 features seven all-new original "shorts" penned by the country's leading playwrights including a world premiere by Miami-based playwright Jessica Farr.

Bored old friends Sarah and Kelly wait for their entrance during the annual El Paso Nativity Pageant at St. Mary Magdalene's School for Girls. While Mary prepares to give birth to Baby Jesus, they share smokes, swigs, and secrets about raising kids and motherhood.

Fulfillment Center by Jeanette Farr

WORLD PREMIERE

The stress of the holidays reaches new heights where workers at a fulfillment center are under pressure to make their numbers on deadline. But free-spirited, Baby Boomer Mimi is dozing off in a pile of packing peanuts, and challenging her perky millennial manager Alex, who is pushing her to the end of her rope.

About The Cast:

Alex Alvarez is thrilled to once again be working with City Theatre after last appearing in Summer Shorts '18, Winter Shorts '17 and Summer Shorts '16. Other South Florida theatre credits include: The Humans; Stalking the Bogeyman (Carbonell Award, Silver Palm Award); The Motherf**ker with the Hat (Carbonell nomination); The Goldberg Variations; Daniel's Husband (Carbonell nomination); Domestic Animals; Mud, Or, (Silver Palm Award); Trust; Visiting Hours (Carbonell nomination); The Unseen (Carbonell nomination, Miami New Times Best Of); and Melisma, written and directed by Nilo Cruz. TV/FILM credits include: "Burn Notice" (USA); "Good Satan" (Amazon Prime); and the web-series "Grown" (Complex). Alex is a dubbing artist at Universal Cinergia, The Kitchen and VOA. He is currently working on his MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage at Point Park University's Low Residency Program. His short screenplay Will was a semi-finalist in the 2016 BlueCat Screenplay Competition.

DAVE COREY is ecstatic to be back with City Theatre and Winter Shorts! While Dave is officially retired from broadcasting, he has kept busy with auditioning, volunteering and working part-time for Insight for the Blind. And, he still does vacation fill-in work at 101.5 LITE FM. On TV and films, Dave has appeared in "Burn Notice," "Walker," "Texas Ranger," Analyze This, and productions going way back to "Miami Vice."

DIANA GARLE's City Theatre credits include Summer Shorts 2018, Shorts on Ships, Winter Shorts 2017 and Short Cuts Tour 2016 and 2017. Other theatre credits include The Humans (GableStage), Juliet Among The Changelings (Lost Girls Theater), Sound Bite: South Beach and Hip-Hop Won't Save You (The Project [theatre]); Hedda Gabler and Three Sisters (Miami Theater Center); and The Plough and The Stars at O'Reilly Theatre Company in Dublin. Recent film credits include: Postcards to Nina, Bond of Brothers, Scenes from Our Young Marriage, For Family's Sake (Best Narrative Short Film at New York City International Film Festival). Diana was featured in American Theatre Magazine as one of the 7 Theatre Workers You Should Know. Jovon Jacobs holds a B.F.A in Acting and is a proud participant in the South Florida theatre community. He was recently seen in One Night In Miami at Miami New Drama. Some of his recent credits include: Shorts Gone Wild (Island City Stage); Winter Shorts 2017 (Adrienne Arsht Center); The Good Girl (Primal Forces); Informed Consent (Gablestage); All The Way (Actors' Playhouse); Motherland (Theatre Lab); The Mystery of Love & Sex (Arts Garage); Fences & Five Guys Named Moe (M Ensemble Theatre); Them Beaux (Miami Theater Center); The Violet Hour (Broward Center); and Map of Virtue (Thinking Cap Theater, Broadwayworld.com Award).

DARYL PATRICE is grateful to join her City Theatre family once again in Winter Shorts! Since her City Theatre debut in Summer Shorts, she's appeared in the Island City Stage collaboration Shorts Gone Wild, and was most recently seen in Thinking Cap Theatre's Crooked.

Irene Adjan This is Irene's seventh appearance in Shorts, though her first time in the Winter! She has also been seen in Zoetic Stage at the Arsht Center's productions of Moscow, Assassins, and Detroit. Some notable appearances include: The Dead, Adding Machine, In the Next Room, and Casa Valentina (GableStage); Finding Mona Lisa, Ragtime, Joseph, 1776, and The Full Monty (Actors' Playhouse); Les Miserables, Annie, and Music Man (Maltz Jupiter Theatre); Night of the Iguana and Buried Cities (Palm Beach Dramaworks); and Mame (The Wick). Coming up, she will appear in Indecent at GableStage, and House of Blue Leaves at Palm Beach Dramaworks. An eleven-time Carbonell nominee, she has won the award three times.
