After Hurricane Wilma temporarily drew the curtain on a play
intended to raise thousands of dollars for former foster girls, The
Vagina Monologues has been rescheduled for Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. at
Miami's Gusman Center for the Performing Arts.
More than 1,000 people bought tickets to the show. Profits are going
to help subsidize rent for eight girls who need to get on their feet
after the state cuts financial aid to them on their 18th birthdays.
The Vagina Monologues will star a cast of well-known local figures
including Miami-Dade commissioners Katy Sorenson and Sally Heyman;
model Hunter Reno; Haitian-American activist Marleine Bastien; and
state Sen. Nan Rich, D-Weston.
Tickets $25 - $250
