Jason Newsted
Musician & Artist Jason Newsted, former bass guitarist for Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Voivod, and bass guitarist/lead vocalist of Newsted, has been a serious visual artist since 2004. Newsted manipulates canvases and upcycles ordinary materials, imagining landscapes and shapes from an unlimited color palette. His figures evoke frenetic emotion, and some work is influenced by Outsider Art. Newsted also works with words and layers. Using both hands, he scrawls names or phrases and then layers paint to disguise them. This exhibition was curated by Nick Korniloff. A portion of the proceeds from sales of Newsted's artwork during the exhibition will be donated to the Cultural Council, The Perry J. Cohen Foundation and Little Kids Rock. Heavy Perspectives - From Metallica to Modern Art
Musician & Artist Jason Newsted -- bass guitarist for Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Voivod, and bass guitarist and lead vocalist of Newsted -- will be interviewed by Leslie Streeter, Pop Culture Reporter for the Palm Beach Post. Newsted had his first gallery show in San Francisco in 2010. His work is on exhibition at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County main gallery from December 1-February 3.

Ticketed Special Musical Event with Jason Newsted
Artist and Grammy-winning musician Jason Newsted -- bass guitarist for Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Voivod, and bass guitarist and lead vocalist of Newsted - has been a serious visual artist since 2004. His art will be on exhibition at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County through February 3. This concert with his eponymous band, Newsted, will benefit arts education in The Palm Beaches. A portion of proceeds will advance the Cultural Council's artist and musician services programs and arts advocacy and education.

Lobby Desk Concert
The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County opens its doors for live music, art and refreshments on the first and third Friday of most months From November to April. Celebrate the end of the week with music and art. Evenings at the Council features talented local musicians at Lobby Desk Concerts on the first Friday of the month and various other musical offerings on the third Friday of the month. An exception to the rule: this month Lobby Desk Concert is happening on the third Friday. The series is generously sponsored by The Palm Beach Post.
