The Ailey School comes to Jacksonville! Mr. Tracy Inman, Co-Director of the Junior Division at The Ailey School (The Official School of The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) in New York City, will visit Jacksonville, April 13-15, 2009. Hosted by Jacksonville Centre of the Arts (The Centre), in association with TransFormUs, Inc., a Jacksonville based arts, entertainment and recreation company, Mr. Inman will teach modern dance master classes for 12-25 year-old intermediate to advanced dance students from around the community. His time in Jacksonville will also include an opportunity for students, 16-25, to audition for The Ailey School's 2009 Summer Intensive dance program.
Mr. Inman is also Rehearsal Director for the Ailey/Fordham Student Dancers, a Horton Instructor and a Faculty Advisor for Professional Division students. Earlier in his career, Mr. Inman was a fellowship student with The Ailey School, danced with Ailey II, toured internationally with the Broadway musical CATS, Dennis Wayne Dancers, The Jamison Project and The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, America's cultural ambassador to the world, marks its 50th anniversary of bringing African American cultural expression and the American modern dance tradition to the world's stages.
