THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER RETURNS TO MIAMI'S STAGES
The Jesus Quintero Studio, in collaboration with the Miami Light Project, will bring back its original adaptation of J. W. Von Goethe's novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. The production will play June 5th-28th at The Light Box Studio, 3000 Biscayne Blvd. #100, Miami, FL33137.
After the success of debut performances at M&S Productions, a North Miami warehouse, The Jesus Quintero Studio will perform in a different venue to remain true to its mission of bringing high quality theater to theater lovers anywhere. "When we selected a warehouse for our debut, we knew we wanted the audience to make eye contact with the actors and experience a close and personal relation with the characters using the space as a medium," says Melissa Almaguer, Co-founder and Managing Director. "The fact that we are performing and collaborating with the Miami Light Project ratifies our innovative nature."
Jesus Quintero has directed a psychologically stimulating composition using a combination of film projections, diverse international music, dance, monologues in different languages, and an array of Grotowski physical action research. This combination of elements tells the story of the narrator's love triangle and draws audiences into the question of when love becomes a riveting obsession.
The production is directed by the Artistic Director and Co-founder, Jesus Quintero. Mr. Quintero graduated from the prestigious Teatro Libre de Bogota, Colombia and has worked in Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, New York, Pennsylvania, and now in Miami. The Artistic Design is by Gary Lund, an important member of the artistic community in Miami for over 25 years, a designer and a seasoned performer throughout the world. The multicultural cast includes Co-founder and Managing Director Melissa Almaguer (Cuban-American,) Edgar Caraballo (Puerto Rico,) Carolina Fonseca (Brazil,) Jeff Keogh (Australia,) Randy Garcia (Cuban-American,), and Francesca Toledo (Cuban-American/Puerto Rico.)
