The Cuban Museum celebrates Exile Cuban Theater Day tonight, May 30 and the 31st with Jay Alvarez's one-man show "Be Careful! The Sharks Will Eat You". The work tells the author's own story of leaving Cuba with his extended family on a boat, and arriving in the US as a child.

The show is part of the Museum's series Sweet Home Museo Cubano, with sponsorship of an Arts Challenge Grant from the Knight Foundation. Additional funding from the Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Memorial Plan, Bank of America and individual contributions. Sweet Home Museo Cubano brings artists of the Cuban diáspora to Miami, their virtual home away from home, with the Museum as host. Be Careful! The Sharks Will Eat You! is one of many events that go on throughout 2013.

A Broadway musical is in the works, with music by internationally acclaimed Cuban émigré jazz artist Paquito D'Rivera.

The Cuban Museum presents Be Careful! The Sharks Will Eat You on May 30 and 31, 2013, 8:00 p.m. in the Onstage Blackbox Theater at Miami Dade County Auditorium, 2901 W. Flagler Street, Miami, Fla. Admission: General Admission: $25. Tickets: 305.547.5414 / 800.745.3000 or on Ticketmaster.
