The ALLIANCE THEATRE Lab presents a staged reading of Johnna Adams' deliciously disturbing play "Angel Eaters." Nominated by the New York Innovative Theatre Awards for Outstanding Full-Length Script, "Angel Eaters" is the first play in Adams' dark and fascinating trilogy which debuted at the Flux Theatre Company in New York.
The trilogy introduces us to a family cursed with the ability of raising the dead. Like a twisted variation on the sin eater, the angel eaters are able to resurrect others by eating the goodness out of the dead. "Angel Eaters" begins the epic in the Oklahoma of the Dust Bowl, by introducing us to Myrtle, whose husband has just died, leaving her and her two daughters even more destitute than they were before. One daughter, Nola, is bitter and hard, raging against the pathetic existence life has given her. The other, Joann, is haunted by an angel to whom she speaks in birdsong, and claims to be able to raise animals from the dead. When two con men from a local carnival claim to be able to restore Myrtle's husband to life, the message of Joann's angel takes a darker turn, and Joann must decide if she must fight God in order to bring her father back.FALL IN LOVE TODAY!
