First, on February 11 and 12 (Friday and Saturday) at 8:00 pm is a Special Event, Love Letters, by A.R. Gurney, directed by John Lineberger. Love Letters is the story of a deep and abiding friendship and romance between two people that spans 50 years. Their love affair, told through their written correspondence, reveals all the highs and lows of a long-term relationship. This story harkens to a time before email, Facebook or Twitter, when writing was the principal means for two people to communicate. This is a mature story with brief profanity. Tickets are $10. Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Christina Lafortune and Randy Caldwell appeared together in another A. R. Gurney play, Sylvia, and are now together again for Love Letters, Surfside Players' special two-nights-only Valentine's gift to the theater-going community. We are planning chocolate and roses in the lobby, to help make this a special date-night affair, right before Valentine's Day!
------------
Next, from February 18 through March 6 (three weekends), Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 pm and Sundays 2:00 pm, is our Main Stage production of Neil Simon's Chapter Two. George Schneider, a recently widowed writer, is introduced to soap opera actress Jennie Malone by his press agent brother Leo and her best friend Faye. Jennie's unhappy marriage to a football player has dissolved after six years, and she's not certain if she's ready to start dating yet. Neither is George, whose memories of his first wife threaten to interfere with any effort to embrace a new romance. It's a bumpy trip on the road to Dreamland for these not-so-young lovers. While Leo has a fling with Faye in a farcical subplot, George and Jennie stumble on, overcoming both their hesitation on the rebound and their emotional neediness.

For this show, Surfside Players is proud to introduce our new director Janet E. Rubin, Ph.D., recently Professor of Theatre at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan with over thirty years of directing experience, making her Brevard County debut! Surfside's production of Neil Simon's Chapter Two stars Leon Smithlin, Heather Godwin, Mark Emerson, and Sheryl Kaufman. Contains brief profanity; parental guidance suggested. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

There will be an Opening Night Reception with free hors d'oeuvres for ticketholders at 7:30 pm on Friday, February 18. Tickets for Neil Simon's Chapter Two are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and active military, $13 for students. Special rates are available for families of four (two adults, two children) and parties of 20 or more. We are continuing our partnership with Brano's Italian Grill on A1A and St. Lucie: order one of a select set of dinners and then come to Surfside for a $3.00 discount.
