Electric Zoo is less than a week away and the excitement continues to build for the Labor Day Weekend dance music extravaganza to be held on August 29, 30, and 31 at Randall's Island Park. The sixth installment of Electric Zoo sees an expansion of the Sunday School brand known for championing the techno and underground house music heroes of the dance music sphere by adding a second stage, Vinyl Only.
This year's Sunday School Grove, a staple since the festival's inception in 2009, will be housed in the uniquely designed wood & mirrored Spiegeltent, which made it's stateside debut at the Sunday School mini-fest hosted at Mysteryland USA earlier this year. The new Vinyl Only stage takes things to the next level with an intimate club environment within the festival, bringing back a lost art and offering fans an opportunity to experience the warm tones and rich analog sound of the world's finest house and techno in a way that only vinyl can offer with Behrouz, Frank & Tony, and Josh Wink hosting the stage each day, respectively. Made Event's recently launched Sunday School Sessions podcast provides fans with a weekly education of underground mixes taught by some of Sunday School's favorite underground DJs. This week dance music pioneer and Sunday School alum, Sasha brings us an exclusive mix setting the tone for his upcoming Electric Zoo performance Saturday, August 31. Other Electric Zoo 2014 artists who have Sunday School podcasts include Andrea Oliva, Joel Mull, Carlo Lio, Alan Fitzpatrick, and a special two hour mix from Joseph Capriati.Created in Miami in 2006 by NYC's own Made Event, Sunday School is the definitive cutting edge techno and house music party. From its humble beginnings at the revered Pawn Shop venue, through the famed multi-night and day events at Miami's Ice Palace, to the Sunday School Grove stage at Electric Zoo, and Sunday School Mini-Fest at the inaugural Mysteryland USA, Sunday School has always been a mecca for the world's dance music cognoscenti from around the globe. Artists and fans alike gathered to be schooled by the most-respected names in techno alongside unsung underground house music heroes and burgeoning labels just starting to establish themselves on dancefloors worldwide.
