Premiere of Jamie Pachino's Splitting Infinity, Friday May 5 through
June 11, 2006 at the theatre's facility in Manalapan's Plaza del
Mar. In this complex and thought-provoking new drama,
a prize-winning astrophysicist, determined to use scientific methods
to disprove the existence of God, discovers not answers but more
questions about a life-long friendship, a newfound love, and her
Judaism. Will her quest destroy the two men who love her - one an
esteemed rabbi, the other a young protégé -
or will it awaken her to a newfound faith? Splitting Infinity makes its Southeastern debut at Florida Stage on
the heels of its World Premiere production at Geva Theatre Center in
Rochester, New York. A hit at Geva's American Voices New Playreading
series, the piece and Geva were recently honored with the 2006
Laurie Foundation Theatre Visions Fund Award.
Fund for New American Plays, Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Award for
Best New Work, plus more than two dozen awards for her plays Waving
Goodbye, The Return to Mortality, Aurora's Motive and Race. Her
plays have also been produced and/or developed with Steppenwolf,
Long Wharf, American Conservatory Theatre, Northlight, A
Contemporary Theatre, and many other theatres across the country.Louis Tyrrell, Florida Stage's Producing Director and multiple
Carbonell Award winner, will direct Splitting Infinity with a cast
featuring Lisa Bostnar as the determined astrophysicist Leigh
Sangold and Stephen Schnetzer as her soul mate and accomplished
Rabbi, Saul Lieberman. Ms. Bostnar, new to Florida Stage, hails from
New York City, where she has been featured in many shows, including
The Truth About Blayds, A Lie of the Mind and The House of Mirth.
Mr. Schnetzer, recently seen in Florida Stage's hit comedy A
Marriage Minuet, is probably most familiar to audiences from his
work on television, including seventeen years spent portraying
lawyer Cass Winthrop on "Another World" and "As The World Turns."
Schnetzer's extensive theatre career also includes appearances at
some of America's most highly regarded regional theatres including
Arena Stage, The Mark Taper Forum, and The American Conservatory
Theatre.
Tory Shulman (Young Leigh Sangold) and Brad Barfield (Robbie March,)
as well as Dustin Sullivan (Young Saul Lieberman,) featured last
season as the determined son in the Florida Stage production of
Miklat, and Florida Stage veteran Lourelene Snedeker (Mrs. March,)
