The Miramar Cultural Center (2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, FL) presents the national touring concert attraction, THE PHANTOMS...UNMASKED! on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 8 PM.
THE PHANTOMS...UNMASKED! is the headline celebrity presentation at the performing arts center's 2016 Gala Benefit, co-sponsored by the Miramar Cultural Trust.
Enter into a shadowy realm of mystery as three of Broadway's greatest Phantoms share untold stories of their experiences behind the mask and face their darkest fears-while performing classics of passion and seduction from such Broadway hits as LES MISERABLES, Man of La Mancha, Jekyll & Hyde, West Side Story, South Pacific, Jesus Christ, Superstar and The Phantom of the Opera. The Phantoms will be joined onstage by an incredible chorus of area rising talent selected through a highly competitive audition process.
THE PHANTOMS...UNMASKED! stars Broadway "Phantoms" John Cudia, Gary Mauer and Grant Norman, with Musical Direction by Daniel C. Strange. The concert presentation is conceived, produced and directed by Jodi Chekofsky and Stephen Kantrowitz.
"We are thrilled to join forces with the Miramar Cultural Trust to bring three of Broadway's most 'PHAN-tastic' Phantoms to MCC," says Stephen Kantrowitz, Director of the Miramar Cultural Center. "We are raising the curtain on an exciting new Season that promises celebrity and star-driven entertainment of the highest caliber. What better way to begin than by setting the stage with three astoundingly great talents who have worn the mask hundreds of times in Broadway's longest-running smash hit?"
"We promise our guests at MCC an evening they will remember forever and expect a packed house at the show and following the performance at the elegant, Parisian-themed 'Meet-the-Phantoms Reception, complete with coffee bar, chocolate fountain, and delicious desserts," said Kantrowitz.
Show Only tickets for this extraordinary benefit evening are $50 and $75 each. Upgraded "Music of the Night" and "Angel of Music" Packages are also available for $250 and $125 per person, respectively, which include priority seating for the performance, a post-show "Meet-the-Phantoms" Cocktail/Dessert Reception, and program listing. $25 Student tickets are also available with ID.
John Cudia holds the distinct honor of being the first and only actor to have performed both as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in LES MISERABLES on Broadway. John's most recent Broadway run counted him as only the 12th performer to play The Phantom in its historic, record-breaking 28 years. John recently played Jean Valjean at the Marriott Theater in Chicago where his performance not only earned him critical acclaim but also the Joseph Jefferson Award for "best actor in a musical."
John proudly made his Broadway debut in LES MISERABLES. John's most-recent Broadway credit was as cover to Juan Peron in Evita with Ricky Martin as Che. John toured the United States and Canada as "The Phantom" and also has the role of Raoul on Broadway and the North American tour to his credit. Some favorite roles include Jesus in Jesus Christ, Superstar at Carousel Theatre, Freddy in My Fair Lady at Westchester Broadway Theater. And in his personal favorite South Pacific, John joined Ron Raines at Paper Mill Playhouse, was Lt.Cable at Casa Mañana, North Shore Music Theatre and Pioneer Theatre, and most-recently was Emile DeBecque for Sacramento Music Circus.
Gary Mauer most-recently starred in the Broadway production and National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera, playing The Phantom. Broadway and National Tour credits also include LES MISERABLES and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. He was cast opposite his wife, Elizabeth Southard, in the National Tour of Harold Prince's Show Boat. Other favorite roles include Jesus in Jesus Christ, Superstar, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, and Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance. Gary has sung "All I Ask of You" on ABC's LIVE with Regis and Kathie Lee and The View as well as NBC's The Today Show. As part of the popular "BRAVO BROADWAY!" concert series, he has sung with numerous symphonies across the country including Cleveland, Utah, and the Philly Pops conducted by Peter Nero, as well as the Chicago and Pittsburgh Symphonies with Marvin Hamlisch. He can be heard on his solo CD, This Is The Moment, and is featured on the CD's Bravo Broadway! and Broadway's Fabulous Phantoms.
Grant Norman's illustrious stage career has included the legendary Broadway shows: Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, and The Phantom of the Opera. He made his Broadway debut in Miss Saigon, where he played the role of Chris. After beginning with the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, he went on to play The Phantom in the U.S. National Touring Company, where he received rave reviews. He was then asked by legendary director Hal Prince and mega producer Cameron Mackintosh to play the title role in London at Her Majesty's Theater for its 10th Anniversary. Grant then went on to play The Beast in the North American National Touring Company of Disney's Beauty and the Beast where he garnered two National Theater Award nominations. Then it was back to Broadway to play the role of Gaston for the 10th Anniversary celebration. Grant has also appeared in several television shows, including Law & Order, Law and Order: CI, Law and Order: SVU, Conviction, & All My Children.
