South Florida Call to Artists

Broward Cultural Division's Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a graphic artist to create and produce a package of artistic design services and products for the Animal Care Facility Project in Davie. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2009.  Extensions of the deadline may be available via the contacts listed below.

Graphic artists are called to create and produce a package of artistic design services and products that will serve to link the new Davie facility with the existing Pompano Beach facility, and brand the Animal Care Division in a positive way that supports its mission of promoting pet adoptions. Brand identity coordination services should include enhancements to existing agency website, and designs for other elements such as vehicle identification, posters, banners, rack cards and other graphic services as determined to be appropriate during the research phase of the project. The graphic artist should submit a budget for the production of the branding components.

The commissioned graphic artist will be required to coordinate with another artist who has been commissioned to design and build sculptures for the Animal Care Facility, in order to incorporate elements of the approved sculpture design into the concept for branding the Animal Care Division. All graphic design services, including website enhancements, must incorporate the standard County logo and are subject to limitations based on standard County guidelines.

The Animal Care and Regulation Division provides shelter for stray animals, initial care for injured strays, animal adoption, license enforcement, spay/neuter programs for indigent pet owners and the return of lost pets to their owners. Animal Care operations are currently divided between the main facility near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and a smaller facility located in the northern part of the county in Pompano Beach. A larger up-to-date facility will be built in the Town of Davie to replace the overcrowded Fort Lauderdale facility.

The budget established for artistic design services is not to exceed $10,000, and the budget established for the production of the website enhancements and the oversight and production of branding components is not to exceed $22,000, for a total project budget for the Animal Care Facility Graphic Design Project in an amount not to exceed $32,000.
