Staged by Slow Burn Theatre Company, DOGFIGHT launches the Abdo New River Room Theater Series at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts from Thursday, November 12 through Sunday, November 29.
Based on the 1991 cult classic movie, a young marine begins an unlikely, yet poignant romance with a shy, awkward waitress the night before he ships off to Vietnam. Emotional combat comes to life as morals, values, humility and humanity are explored and dissected in the musical.
The original production took home the prestigious 2013 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical.
DOGFIGHT features a cast of talented local performers including Alexa Baray, Hannah Benitez, Sabrina Gore, Cameron Jordan, Kaitlyn O'Neill, Rick Pena, Ben Sandomir, Christian Vandepas, Brian Varela, Mike Westrich and Alex Zenoz.
The musical is directed and choreographed by Slow Burn Theatre Artistic Director Patrick Fitzwater and features the creative team of musical director Manny Schvartzman, scenic designer Sean McClelland and lighting designer Becky Montero.
Performances are Thursdays through Sundays: Thursday and Friday are at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $45.
