Slow Burn Theatre Company Presents THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY

Slow Burn Theatre Company and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts present the two-time Tony Award Winner The Bridges of Madison County Thursday, January 18-Sunday, February 4 in the Amaturo Theater.

Based on the novel by Roberts James Waller, the musical tells the story of Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson and her life-changing, four-day whirlwind romance with traveling photographer Robert Kincaid. Featuring gorgeous, soulful music that draws upon the rich textures of Americana and folk and the sweeping, expressive balladry of classic Broadway, it's an unforgettable story of two people caught between decision and desire, as a chance encounter becomes a second chance at so much more.

Anna Lise Jenson and Cooper Grodin star in the production which is directed and choreographed by Slow Burn Theatre Artistic Director Patrick Fitzwater. The talented cast includes Mark Sanders, Margot Moreland, Michael Cartwright, Kyle Kemph, Julia Dale, Leah Sessa and Jeanine Gangloff and an ensemble of Ann Marie Olson, Aaron Atkinson, Matthew Korinko, Kimmi Johnson and Rick Peña.

On Broadway, Jason Robert Brown picked up two Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations. He also provided the lyrics to the show with a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman.

In the review of the Broadway production, The New York Times reported, "Fortunately, music is the food of love, or so I hear, and Mr. Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years) gives us plenty of rich fare to feast on."

Eric Alsford serves as music director for this production at the Broward Center.

Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. with a matinee on Wednesday, January 31 at 1 p.m.
