Seussical Jr.
at the
Lake Worth Playhouse
June 26, 27 & 28
"After all those years being stuck on a page, Did you ever imagine you'd see me onstage?" So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this family musical.
The Lake Worth Playhouse Summer Performance Camp will conclude with four performances of Seussical Jr. on the Playhouse main stage. Performances will be at 1:00 p.m. on June 26th and 27th and at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on June 28th. The camp, for children ages 5 through 17, ran on Saturdays through April and May, and is running daily through the month of June. Last year's production of Godspell Jr. was extremely successful, with sell-out audiences for almost every performance.
Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and all of the Whos of Whoville. The score emerges as a Seussian Gumbo of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk.
Along with theatrical games and exercises, Summer Performance Camp participants spend time learning the music, choreography, staging, and acting necessary to mount a full fledged production such as Seussical Jr. Students also assist with costuming, props, and set construction.
