SMT TO POSTPONE PRODUCTION OF OZ
May 5, 2008, Daytona Beach, FL - Seaside Music Theater, Daytona Beach's resident professional theater for 32 years, remains determined to keep its doors open for the long term.
Therefore, in an effort to maintain financial stability, the theater will postpone its summer production of The Wizard of Oz until late November, in the slot originally planned for A Christmas Carol.
Taking this action enables SMT to move forward enthusiastically with its four other summer productions - Les Misérables, Backwards in High Heels, Altar Boyz, and Miss Nelson Is Missing.
"We are so fortunate at SMT to have such an amazing and supportive audience and a devoted staff that remain committed to preserving this local treasure," says SMT Artistic Director Lester Malizia. "We hope that more of the community will echo that support at this challenging yet hopeful time."
SMT has already begun contacting Summer 08 and Winter 08-09 subscribers and customers who have already purchased Oz tickets to apologize for any inconvenience and to explain this situation. SMT says customers can rest assured that ticket investments will not be lost.
The company advises anyone who has questions to please feel free to call the Box Office, Monday through Friday, from 10am - 4pm, at 386-252-6200.
