Neither strait-laced nor straight faced, on Thurs., December 22 at 8:00 p.m. a cappella artists STRAIGHT NO CHASER will appear at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
Tickets go on sale Wed. May 4 at 10:00 a.m.
The all male singing group STRAIGHT NO CHASER is reinventing the idea of a cappella music on a modern pop landscape. Originally formed in 1996 while students at Indiana University, this casually serious, different brand of boy band reemerged as a YouTube sensation when footage from one of their concerts surfaced online in 2006.
Today, STRAIGHT NO CHASER has a massive fanbase, more than 20 million views on YouTube, numerous national TV appearances, two highly successful holiday releases, as well as their 2010 album With a Twist-the groups first full-length departure from holiday music. STRAIGHT NO CHASER is the real deal-the captivating sound of ten unadulterated human voices coming together to make moving, extraordinary music...and with a sense of humor-no digital processing or vocal pro-tooling.
On top of SNC's Christmas success with their versions of songs like "The 12 Days of Christmas," which incorporates Toto's "Africa," on the road SNC has built a reputation as an unforgettable live act. Over the summer, the group held a grand slam residency at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City where they performed 40 shows in 8 weeks, and has been featured on ABC World News Tonight, HLN, and Today, among others. STRAIGHT NO CHASER'S third and most recent album, With a Twist marked the group's highest chart debut to date, entering the Billboard 200 at #29 upon its April 2010 release. The group celebrated the success with a memorable appearance on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where they performed a tribute to ABC's famed "TGIF" line-up.
