The Crest Theatre at Old School Square is preparing for an alien invasion this summer! WLRN Radio Theater's Sci-Fi Summer will give sci-fi lovers, of all ages, thrills and chills, as three of the most popular science fiction stories of all time are brought to life on the Crest Theatre stage.

"Sci-Fi Summer" is presented by WLRN Radio Theater in partnership with the Crest Theatre and Arts Radio Network Theatre Project. Each event will include a post-show Talk Back session, where the audience can ask questions about the play, its history and the production.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Klaatu and his mighty robot Gort land their spacecraft on Cold War-era Earth just after the end of World War II. They bring an important message to all nations. However, after learning something about the natives, Klaatu decides on an alternative approach.

War of the Worlds

78 years ago, Orson Welles and his Mercury Theatre on the Air presented their version of H.G. Wells' classic story, and it became the most infamous radio broadcast of all time. WRLN Radio Theater brings the original script back to life, reimagined in Palm Beach County!

Plan 9 from Outer Space

The great Edward D. Wood Jr.'s cult classic has been adapted for the stage. Can your heart stand the shocking facts about grave robbers from outer space?! Come dressed as your favorite character.

The Crest Theatre is located on the Old School Square campus at 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach 33444. Tickets are $25 (Regular) and $15 (Student) and are available at OldSchoolSquare.org or by calling the Box Office at 561-243-7922, ext. 1. Sci-Fi Summer Packages are available for both regular and student tickets.

About the Performances

These shows are accurate recreations of radio plays from the golden age of radio, with professional actors performing multiple roles and utilizing authentic sound effect devices. These plays are very interactive, with the audience providing many of the sound effects themselves! All shows are recorded for later broadcast on 91.3 WLRN.
