Downtown Saint Petersburg, also known as "The Burg" continues to prosper even in a down economy. Ruby's Elixir will be one of the new kids on the block when they open this Friday, January 14th. Ruby's is located on 3rd Street North right off Central Avenue, between Central and First Avenue North on the west end of the Jannus Landing block at 15 -3rd Street North.
Co-owner Greg Haddad, describes Ruby's "as a swank and sophisticated speakeasy with a Prohibition era feel. Focusing on live music, mixology and conversation. The décor matches the concept. A very remarkable stone faced bar with in-laid hand crafted wood top. The back bar is tasteful with dark woods and the walls wrapped with Pin-Up Art from the '40s & '50s. Proper Ruby Red elegant lighting fits the part, glowing over the granite top cocktail tables and wood floors. The interior room is topped off with a novel intimate stage. A MiLes Davis meets Dean Martin feel."
The scene then over flows through the three sets of double French doors to a wide patio of lounge furniture for your chillin' pleasure.
The servers and bar staff reflect the motif with their '50s pinup style fashions.
The concept is part of a new trend to offer adults an alternative to the overabundance of today's current urban night club scene. The consumer wishes different selections in all forms of entertainment and this idea delivers an interesting choice. Many will find after an unforgettable meal downtown, the laid-back but refined atmosphere of Ruby's Elixir. An excellent venue to complete their night. Featuring extra fine spirits blended in traditional recipes like Manhattans, Sidecar and Old Fashions. But also embracing new school purity and techniques. This is followed up with 8-16 Craft beers on draft.
The music focus will be live jazz 3-4 times a week. This watering hole will also be open seven days a week at 4pm.
Ruby's Elixir joins an already rejuvenated Jannus Landing block with the re-birth of the venue Jannus Live. New businesses such as Crystal Head Lounge, Jannus Executive Suites and The Tap Room at Central Cigars have opened on the block in the last year. Plus, the soon to be announced additions of Pure Sushi & Sake Bar and Dixx Chicken & Waffle Joint.
Ruby's Elixir resides in the site formerly known as the Havanna Room, a part Central Cigars. But this room is smoke free and fresh. The new renovation was deep, the Site is completely re-constructed from floor to ceiling. The new owners, Greg Haddad of Central Cigars and Allan Galeano of Push Ultra Lounge supervised the overhaul and transformation of the new Site.
