Reach Dance Company collaborates with their friends to produce an evening of dance, music, laughter and all things performance. The evening will include original works by REACH members, Danielle Armstrong, Ronda Johnson and Loren Foster, as well as sketch and improv comedy by The Jove and music by local artists, Jeff Harding, Nick Laudati and Pam Peterson.
Reach - A Dance Theater Collective is dedicated to preserving the roots of jazz while pushing it to evolve. Its commitment to truthful story telling through the language of movement and music is its driving force. The utilization of the dancers strength, emotion and sensuality is at the core of every step, piece and performance. REACH was founded by M. Konrad as a workshop project in 2005. After an overwhelming response to her explosive and expressive choreography and unique use of music, the company was founded in 2006. REACH's dancers have a sophisticated sensuality as well as a gleeful sense of fun and a domineering intensity. Its repertoire pays homage to jazz, modern, ballet, funk and ethnic dance. Its dancers are as diverse as its repertoire, coming from many different dance worlds-ballet, modern, post modern, jazz, commercial and ethnic. They have one common trait-Passion. REACH has an active touring season throughout the community. The diversity of the work attracts continually increasing audiences across South Florida. They have performed to sold out audiences at The Atlantic Theater, Abacoa Live, Artigras 2006, The Maltz Jupiter Theater and opening for Florida Dance Theater. The company is available for galas, private performances and venues as well as education outreach. REACH, a dance theatre collective, makes its home at The Atlantic Theater at Atlantic Arts Academy.
Maria A. Konrad (Artistic Director/Resident Choreographer)
A native to Jupiter, Florida, Maria graduated from the Dreyfoos School of the Arts, received her BFA in Performing Arts from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has performed in various pieces throughout the Philadelphia area including the Barrymore Awards, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, The Merriam Theater and Project Dance, Philadelphia. Throughout the Philadelphia area her choreography has been seen in West Side Story, Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, Project Dance, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival and Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. Ms. Konrad created the early dance education curriculum for Koresh Dance Company in Philadelphia, which has been featured in Dance Magazine. REACH is her newest endeavor. Her passion for marrying dance, theatre and movement can be seen in her explosive and expressive choreography.
