Beauty and the Beast

Orlando Shakes - begins performances June 23rd, 2022.

Set in an enchanted castle in a far away land, Beauty and the Beast spins a magical tale where a young beauty has been locked away by a terrible Beast. The young woman's honest and enduring love for the unsightly Beast ultimately becomes a gift of kindness that brings magical results. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Athens Theatre - June 2nd through June 12th, 2022.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee takes spell-bound audiences to a fictional contest held in a Middle School where six unforgettably peculiar early teens face each other in a competition supervised by three comically idiosyncratic grown-ups. Adding to the fun are four audience members who agree to appear as spellers. On Broadway, Al Sharpton and Julie Andrews were among them (Play Bill 1/27/2008). Flash backs show play goers the flawed parental relations which have shaped the pressure ridden spellers and reveal to audiences the real children behind their not-quite-polished public faces.

Jesus Christ Superstar

Dr. Phillips Center - June 7th through June 12th, 2022.

Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic musical phenomenon with a world-wide fan base. In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, a new mesmerizing production comes to North America. Originally staged by London's Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and helmed by the acclaimed director Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) and award winning choreographer Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom), this production won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival garnering unprecedented reviews and accolades. Appealing to both theater audiences and concert music fans, this production pays tribute to the historic 1971 Billboard Album of the Year while creating a modern, theatrical world that is uniquely fresh and inspiring.

Pump Boys and Dinettes

Winter Park Playhouse - through June 12th, 2022.

Broadway Hit! The 'Pump Boys' sell high octane on Highway 57 in Grand Ole Opry country. The 'Dinettes' run the Double Cupp diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of Country Western songs that received unanimous raves on Broadway and Off. With heart and hilarity, they perform highly entertaining toe-tappers such as "Drinkin' Shoes," "Farmer Tan" and "The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine!" on guitars, piano, bass and yes, kitchen utensils!

MAC Boys Entertainment's The Colored Museum

Orlando Rep / MAC Boys Entertainment - June 17th through Junw 26th, 2022.

The Colored Museum has electrified, discomforted, and delighted audiences of all colors, redefining our ideas of what it means to be Black in contemporary America. Its eleven "exhibits" undermine Black stereotypes old and new and return to the facts of what being Black means.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

Broward Center - June 17th through June 19th, 2022.

BEAUTIFUL-The Carole King Musical tells the inspiring true story of Carole King's remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

Head Over Heels

Slow Burn Theatre Company - June 10th through June 26th, 2022.

HEAD OVER HEELS is the bold new musical comedy from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening. This laugh-out-loud love story is set to the music of the iconic 1980's all-female rock band The Go-Go's, including the hit songs, "We Got the Beat," "Our Lips Are Sealed," "Vacation," Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a Place on Earth" and "Mad About You." Johnny Cash was one of the most revered storytellers in American music. Central Florida Community Arts invites you to Ragtime: A Benefit Concert. At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing... and anything is possible. Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, three distinctly American tales are woven together - that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant, and a daring young Harlem musician - united by their courage, compassion, and belief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom, and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America.
