Keith Garsson today announced that Primal Forces has signed a deal to become the resident theater company at Sol Theatre in Boca Raton. After a twenty-year incarnation as The Boca Raton Theater Guild, a re-branding in 2014 and then a four-year detour through Andrews Living Arts (twice), Arts Garage and Empire Stage, Primal Forces is thrilled to reveal the theater company's 2018-2019 season at their new home. A special subscription flex pass is now being offered for all four shows at $100. For more information please visit, www.primalforces.com
"We've taken some good-natured ribbing about our nomadic existence," said Artistic Director Keith Garsson. "But we couldn't pass up the opportunity to move back to Boca when the Sol Theatre became available."
While the Sol Theatre will continue its hugely successful and highly reputable children's theatre programs, the shows previously produced under the Evening Star banner will be discontinued to make way for four productions presented by Primal Forces.
To mold to the demographics of the familiar city, the selection of shows, for the first season, will fall into safer and more well-rounded terrain with subjects that include African-American history, the Holocaust, aging, and a rarely-produced dark comedy from, of all people, Neil Simon.
"Even Neil Simon had a dark side," explained Garsson. "In our final show of the season, The Gingerbread Lady, his script explores alcoholism and obsolescence. However, future seasons will return to predominantly newer and edgier works."
The first show opens on November 30, 2018 with the resurrection of Breadcrumbs, a play originally scheduled to run last April in Delray Beach.
Some of South Florida's finest actors will be featured throughout the season, and Primal Forces takes pride in the fact that almost ninety percent of the lead roles will be for women, a statistic that is unique among current South Florida theater companies.
Garsson and Genie Croft will continue to share directing duties along with a production team that remains largely unchanged.
The Sol Theatre is located at 3333 N Federal Highway in Boca Raton. The new Spanish River exit on I-95 is conveniently located just a quarter of a mile north and west of the venue.
