PERFORMANCE SATURDAY, APRIL 29

SHORES PERFORMING ARTS THEATER

FREE ADMISSION TO SHORES RESIDENTS

MIAMI/> SHORES/>---Fulfilling its promise to present a professional theater company that would address the young people of South Florida/>, THE PLAYGROUND THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES will present a classic Brazilian fairytale, PLUFT, THE LITTLE GHOST at a performance Saturday, April 29, at 3 P.M. at the Shores Performing Arts Theater, 9806 NE 2nd Avenue/>/>, Miami Shores.

This special performance is made possible be a grant from the North Dade/> Medical Foundation.  The North Dade/> Medical Foundation is sponsoring 1,600 Miami-Dade public schools children to performances at the Shore Performing Arts Theater April 24-May 2.

Directed by Oleg Kheyfets/>, who with his co-producing artistic director wife, Stephanie Ansin founded the company.  The ensemble cast includes Melissa Almaguer, Meshaun Labrone Arnold, Linda Bernhard, Raul Martinez, Kristen Dawn McCorkell, David Potter, Jesus Quintero, and Ricky Waugh.

PLUFT, THE LTTLE GHOST will have set and costumes designed by Emil Kapelush, lighting by Jeff Quinn, and sound by Amanda Green and Joe Pisciotta.  

PLUFT, THE LITTLE GHOST, the PLAYGROUND'S inaugural production, was received last season with great enthusiasm. The play is the work of the late Maria Clara Machado, Brazil/>/>'s most important children's author.  Actress, director, writer and teacher, Machado wrote and directed 29 plays, and founded Tablado in Rio de Janeiro/>/>, a theatre and school that nurtured several generations of actors. PLUFT has been staged world-wide, and was further honored by the Brazilian government when its main characters, "Maribel" and "Pluft," were pictured on a national stamp dedicated to Machado.Tickets are free to Miami/> Shores/>/> residents.  Non-residents tickets are $15.
