The Florida State University Student Theatre Association presents their ten minute play festival entitled FLOW. This production will run from April 26 - 28 in the Augusta Conradi Studio Theatre, located in the Williams Building.
The FSU Student Theatre Association (FSU STA) is a registered student organization that provides resources and educational support to students wanting to put on theatrical productions in Tallahassee. FSU STA possesses a board of undergraduate, graduate, and PhD representatives, as well as supportive faculty and staff, who are there to help students develop their projects.
FLOW is a ten minute play festival consisting of 11 original pieces written and directed by FSU students. Within the last 6 months these students have been working tirelessly to present their finest pieces of theatrical art.
Writers of these productions include FSU students Justin Dodd, Daniel Wind, Lili Agudo, Christal Ferreira, Audrey Polinski, Casey Leach, Jude Flanely, Kayla Tomas, Taylor Smith, Gaby Moldovan, and Vernissa Allen.
The concept for this production was ignited after FLOW Creative Director Andrew Rincon took numerous writing workshops in New York last summer.
"When he came back he and I started talking about the real lack of opportunities for new work production here on campus lately," FLOW producer Bri Weintraub explained. "We put up Explorations on Love Sex and GhettoSpeak last semester, which included a one act written by him, and one written by Aaren Lasky. We got such a good response from people who loved the piece and wanted to write their own that it just seemed like the next step to do a festival setting like this."
In the spirit of displaying new works for the Tallahassee community, FLOW aims to inspire all to commence with creating original pieces and to support each other in allowing this creativity to flourish.
"FLOW is really one of a kind these days in Tallahassee - it's a chance to see new work, written by some of the brightest minds not just at FSU, but in the Tallahassee community," Weintraub remarked. "The whole process has been such a collaboration between the writers, directors and actors, that the piece you're seeing really is a piece of everyone involved, mushed together, then thrown up onstage."
FLOW will be an extraordinary festival that's bound to leave the community yearning for more!
