The Waterfront Playhouse continues its smash 71st season with the comedy, "The New Century" by Paul Rudnick. "The evening contains so many gut-busting one-liners that those with heart conditions are warned," says the NY Post.

"The New Century" opens Tuesday, April 5th at 8 pm and runs until April 23rd. (Please note there are no performances the week of April 10 to 18.) The production is sponsored by AT&T, The Real Yellow Pages and the opening night party is sponsored by Kathy and Tom Cawley and Charlie Allen.

Directed by Carbonell award-winner Rich Simone, it stars WFPH artistic director Danny Weathers as the gleefully flamboyant Mr. Charles; Linda Bernhard, a Carbonell award-winning actress as Helene, the proud mother of 3 gay children; Annie Miners who stars as Barbara Ellen a craft-crazy mom from Decatur, IL; Rhett Kalman as the boy toy Shane and Maggie Meiers as a new mom who wants her son to be fabulous.

"The New Century" is a laugh-out loud collection of four one-act plays. As The New York Times raved, "The one-liners fly like rockets in [this] rollicking play...Mr. Rudnick turns stereotypes into bullet-deflecting armor and jokes into an inexhaustible supply of ammunition."

"The New Century" carries an audience advisory of adult language and brief nudity.

For tickets, call 305-294-5015 or purchase tickets at www.WaterfrontPlayhouse.org on their online ticketing service. Check out the Friday Night Date special, which is 2 tickets for $60, a savings of $20. Season sponsors of the Waterfront include Comcast, Digital Island Media, El Meson de Pepe's and WKWM/WLRN. This production is sponsored in part by the Monroe Tourist Development Council, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
