All the bad news got you down? Escape to the Waterfront Playhouse as they present the comedy "Regrets Only" by Paul Rudnick.  This laughfest about high fashion, friendship and marriage is a fine way to get away from it all. Directed by the Waterfront's Artistic Director Danny Weathers, the cast includes Mike Mulligan, Ronnie Goldstein, Karen Grant, George Murphy, Christina Olivieri and Robin Deck. The Waterfront production will mark the South Florida premiere of Rudnick's Off Broadway hit and runs December 17 to January 10 at 8 pm.

"Regrets Only" is set in the glittery realm of Manhattan society where Rudnick creates a delicious recipe for hilarity. He takes one high-powered Manhattan attorney and his fashionista wife and blends with their closest friend, a world famous designer. He adds a bridezilla daughter whose wedding plans are tanking and mixes with a wacky maid, a cocktail-fueled mother and the President of the United States. Finally he drizzles the proceedings with the catastrophic possibilities of what might happen if gay people everywhere went on strike. Now shake vigorously with laughter. The New York Sun called "Regrets Only" "a saucy, sharp-tongued comedy of uncivil disobedience."

Playwright Paul Rudnick has written some of the funniest plays seen both on and off Broadway, including The New Century, Valhalla, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, I Hate Hamlet and Jeffrey, for which he won an Obie and an Outer Critics Circle Award. His articles and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, Vogue, Vanity Fair and The New York Times. His is rumored to be quite close to Premiere Magazine's film critic, Libby Gelman-Waxner. His screenplays include Addams Family Values, the screen adaptation of Jeffrey, and In & Out. The New York Times calls Rudnick "one of the funniest quip-meisters on the planet."

"Regrets Only" boasts quite an interesting cast. Mike Mulligan (the designer) has been seen on all the stages of Key West, including "The Best Man" and "Equus" at the Waterfront, "Barbra's Wedding" at the Barn and "Amadeus" at TWFAC. Ronnie Goldstein (the maid) has been in "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" at the Waterfront and "Shel's Shorts" and "The Vagina Monologues" at the Barn. Karen Grant (the wife) is a newcomer to the Key West stage, but has lived there for many years. Locals may know her from her appearances with Bounce and OoLaLa. George Murphy (the husband) has been in "The Graduate" at the Waterfront and  "Shel's Shorts" and "Opus" at the Barn. Robin Deck (the mother) has been in "The Best Man" at the Waterfront and "Shel's Shorts" at the Barn, and is in their upcoming production of "Steel Magnolias." Christina Olivieri (the daughter) is making her stage debut with "Regrets Only."

To help create the Park Avenue penthouse setting for "Regrets Only," the Waterfront's set designer Michael Boyer has enlisted the help of Christopher Elwell, who is the owner of Royal Furniture and a board member for the Waterfront Playhouse. Mr. Elwell is acting as co-set decorator by providing  new furniture from his stores. He is also sponsoring the opening night that will include a post-performance party. Costumes will be by Carmen Rodriguez  ("Educating Rita," "The Best Man") and lighting by Kim Hanson ("Nutcracker Key West," "Reefer Madness," "Urinetown.")
