West Palm Beach's only resident professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks will kick off its 11th Anniversary season with George Bernard Shaw's play "Candida" on Friday, October 8th (8PM) at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard). The season will continue with a distinguished roster of plays including the southeast premiere of "Freud's Last Session" by Mark St. Germain, "Dinner With Friends" by Donald Margulies and "The Beauty Queen of Leenane" by Martin McDonagh

"Most directors agree that casting a production well is half the job of mounting a hit show. I'm thrilled to announce that we've assembled some of the finest actors in the industry to tackle some deceptively challenging but artistically rewarding plays next season. These local and visiting artists embody all the necessary talent to ensure another triumphant season of highly entertaining and thought-provoking theatre at Palm Beach Dramaworks," stated Dramaworks' Producing Artistic Director William Hayes

Launching the season in mid October is the acclaimed play "Candida," staring Kim Cozort, John Leonard Thompson, and Will Connolly, by the Nobel Prize winning playwright George Bernard Shaw. In this witty exploration of marriage, a beautiful Victorian woman finds herself caught in a romantic triangle between her pastor husband and a young poet. The production will also feature John Felix, Cliff Burgess, and Margery Lowe (October 8th- November 21st). The season continues with "Freud's Last Session" by the award-winning playwright Mark St. Germain. On the day England enters World War II, the legendary Dr. Sigmund Freud invites C.S. Lewis, played by Dennis Creaghan and Chris Oden, to his London home, where they clash on the existence of God, love, sex and the meaning of life. (December 17th- February 6th). Following on February 25th is Donald Margulies' Pulitzer Prize winning "Dinner With Friends," featuring Erin Schmidt, Jim Ballard, Eric Brown, and Sarah Wilson. This candid bittersweet Pulitzer Prize winning play examines two married couples who have been close friends for years, and what happens when one marriage falls apart. (February 25th - April 17th).

The season concludes with "The Beauty Queen of Leenane" by acclaimed playwright Martin McDonagh. The darkly comic tale of a lonely woman and her manipulative mother, whose interference in her daughter's only chance at love sets the stage for deceptions, secrets and betrayal. The production will feature Barbara Bradshaw and Kevin Kelly (May 6th - June 19th).

The productions will be directed as follows: Dramaworks Resident director J. Barry Lewis will stage "Candida" and "The Beauty Queen of Leenane," and Dramaworks Producing Artistic Director William Hayes will stage "Freud's Last Session" and "Dinner with Friends."
