PPTOPA Auditions for My Fair Lady
Monday, January 3rd, 2011 and Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Audition Times - Open between 7 & 10 pm
Please see below for character breakdown
Auditions are open to the public and anyone may audition regardless of experience. Please bring a current picture if available.

Location: 17195 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines at the Susan B. Katz Theater located in the FIU Campus. The theater is 1 mile West of I-75, at the corner of 172nd & Sheridan Street.

Cast of Characters

Henry Higgins(Baritone, 40 - 60, upper-class British) - Professor of linguistics. Conceited, stereotypical man not in touch with his feelings.

Eliza Doolittle (legit soprano, 17 - 30, cockney/upper-class) - Cockney flower girl. High spirited, proud.

Colonel Pickering(Baritone, 40+, upper-class British) - The amiable linguist friend of Professor Higgins. A true gentleman.

Alfred P. Doolittle(Baritone, 40 - 70) - Slightly alcoholic father of Eliza. Fun loving.

Freddy Eynsford-Hill(Tenor, 20 - 32, upper-class British) - A stereotypical tenor character - spineless upperclass man in love with Eliza

Mrs. Pearce(Non-Singing, 40 - 70) - Professor Higgin's housekeeper. No-nonsense, motherly.

Mrs. Higgins(Non-Singing, 60 - 80, upper-class British) - Professor Higgin's mother. Self-assured, wealthy, classy, and elegant. Loves her son, but also recognizes that he needs someone to cut him down a bit.

Zoltan Karpathy(Non-Singing, 30 - 50, ballroom) - A Hungarian who fancies himself a linguist. Seeks the "imposter" at the ball.

Mrs. Eynsford-Hill(Non-Singing, 40 - 60) - Freddy's mother.

Lord Boxington(45 - 65) - Friend of Mrs. Higgins, Ascot race patron.

Lady Boxington(45 - 65) - At Ascot races, non-speaking.

George- Bartender who works at the Tottenham Court Road Pub.

Harry(30 - 60)-Drinking companion of Alfred Doolittle.

Jamie(30 - 60) -Drinking companion of Alfred Doolittle.

Mrs. Hopkins(40 - 65) - A cockney woman of Tottenham Court

Adult Chorus- Servants, cockneys, opera goers, Ascot racetrack devotees, Embassy Ball patrons, street buskers, others

There will be some children in the chorus.

Musical Guidelines - Prepare 16 measures of an upbeat or 16 measures of a ballad in your key. Choose a piece you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths Sheet music is required; Cd's or a Capella may be permitted, but not suggested. Be prepared to read cold from the script. Familiarize yourself with the show if possible.
