Outré Theatre Company - unconventional, outrageous and out-of-the -ordinary -debuts in South Florida, October 2011.
At age 21, Managing Director Nori Tecosky is, the youngest managing director in Florida, and she and Artistic Director Skye Whitcomb say the theatre will offer thought provoking topics that are designed to encourage activism. Their mutual goals are to better the community through art, by taking their audience on a journey with the characters, hope to inspire passion and creativity in all aspects of their audience's lives.
The season debuts October 24, 2011 with a staged reading of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard. Outré Theatre Company's first season will be hosted by two theatres in Dade; New Theatre and GableStage, and two in Broward County. They are looking to find a permanent home for their 2012-2013 season. The debut season includes readings of Buried Child by Sam Shepard, December 2011, Dog Sees God by Burt V. Royal, February 2012, closing the season in May 2012 with Man of La Mancha, book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh.
Whitcomb is a member of the Actor's Equity Association and has been acting for 30 years and directing for 20. He is the former managing director of Savannah Actor's Theatre and ALLIANCE THEATRE Lab. Tecosky has been acting for ten years. She is a singer, dancer and actor. Opus, a film starring Tecosky, was just accepted in the Vancouver International Film Festival. She is also a visual artist utilizing mixed media, painting and drawing.
