Mini-Grant Program Application Workshop to be Held for

Broward County Not-for-Profit Cultural Organizations

Offered Twice on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. and again at 6:00 p.m.

Broward Cultural Division invites interested participants from the community to a Mini-Grant Program workshop offered TWICE on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. These sessions will be for Broward County not-for-profit cultural organizations. They will be held in the Broward County Main Library, Bienes Conference Room, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The workshops will be offered at 11:00 am, and AGAIN at 6:00 pm.

The purpose of the Mini-Grant Program is to assist eligible Broward County not-for-profit cultural organizations with annual operating revenues of less than $100,000, to fund small cultural projects for which applicants have not received grant monies through any other Cultural Division program. The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity.

Organizations must be registered with the Florida Secretary of State as a cultural, not-for-profit corporation. They must have operated in their discipline(s) in Broward County for a minimum of one uninterrupted year following incorporation; and must have provided services in Broward County for a minimum of six months following the date of incorporation. Recent examples of past funded projects include: Chameleon Musicians, Inc., In Harmony Productions, Inc., Broward Folk Club, Inc., The GirlChoir of South Florida, Inc.

Mini-Grant awards are up to $5,000 per award, on a funds-available basis. An eligible cultural organization may apply for up to three Mini-Grants during the County's fiscal year. Total Mini-Grant funding to any organization may not exceed $10,000 annually. The next Mini-Grant Program application deadline is June 1, 2009 for projects implemented after October 1, 2009.

There is no fee for this workshop. Registration is available online at www.broward.org/arts; click on "Workshops." For more information, please call Adriane Clarke, grants specialist, 954-357-7530, e-mail, aclarke@broward.org.
