'New Year's Swing Time' & The Lake Worth Playhouse Concert Series

Lake Worth Playhouse Rings in 2011 with NEW YEAR'S SWING TIME, the First in its Series of 2011 Concerts  

The Lake Worth Playhouse will ring in 2011 with NEW YEAR'S SWING TIME: A New Year's Eve Celebration! The evening includes live music, hors d'oeuvres, party favors and a champagne toast. The festivities begin at 8:00 p.m. at the Lake Worth Playhouse, located at 713 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth.  

The NEW YEAR'S SWING TIME concert features South Florida entertainer, Missy McArdle, backed by Glen Rovinelli's ten-piece orchestra, performing standard classics from the American Songbook. The concert includes music that spans the generations from World War II on, including favorites from Rosemary Clooney, and a selection of songs that will set the tone for a festive New Year's celebration.

An accomplished musician, Missy McArdle performs vocally and instrumentally through-out South Florida. She is a seven-time Carbonell Award nominee, recognized for her performances in Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof and A Moon for the Misbegotten among others. She is recognized by music fans throughout South Florida as part of the esteemed musical trio (along with William Stafford and Mark Galsky) that conceived and performs the popular cabaret show, From Berlin to Tin Pan Alley. (See below.) McArdle will perform in The Playhouse's New Year's Swing Time along with a ten-piece orchestra led by music conductor, Glen Rovinelli. An avid musician proficient in 72 different musical instruments, Rovinelli plays in big bands and early music ensembles throughout the county. He is a frequent performer at Florida Stage and the Lake Worth Playhouse.

TIME MACHINE
(Wednesday January 26, 2011 - 8:00 p.m.)

Formerly known as "The Lads of Liverpool," this popular British invasion tribute band plays the rock music that influenced a generation from 1964-1967, including favorites from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Herman's Hermits and others. 

FROM BERLIN TO TIN PAN ALLEY
(Saturday, February 19, 2011 - 8:00 p.m.)

South Florida performers, Missy McArdle and William Stafford, accompanied by jazz pianist, Mark Galsky, perform the music of Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. Audience favorites performed by this popular local trio include Over the Rainbow, So in Love, Steppin' Out With My Baby and Alexander's Ragtime Band. This unique musical tribute is a celebration of the prolific work of five extraordinary composers. 

THE LEGENDS OF DOO WOP
(Wednesday March 9, 2011 - 8:00 p.m.)

This internationally acclaimed group harmony act has played to standing-room-only audiences from New York to Los Angeles and throughout Europe performing popular favorites from the early days of Rock n' Roll. The band's members - Tommy Mara (The Crests), Steve Horn (The Five Sharks), Tony Passa (The Fascinators) and Frank Mancuso (The Imaginations) - have four songs in the Top 100 Greatest Hits listing, recently released by WCBS radio in New York.

Lake Worth Playhouse is a non-profit community theatre with a diverse array of offerings, including award-winning dramas, comedies, musicals, Broadway favorites, children's shows, ballets and operas on film and live music concerts.
