New Theatre's 3rd Annual Ontario Theatre Experience Is an Award-Winning Production!

Seven-Day Tour Features Nine Performances at World-Renowned Festivals in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Stratford:  August 7 – 13, 2007.

Coral Gables, FL – Plans are in full swing for the 3rd Annual Ontario Theatre Experience hosted by the award-winning New Theatre, based in Coral Gables, Florida.  Scheduled from August 7 through August 13, 2007, the tour includes tickets to nine performances at the world-renowned Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Stratford Festival of Canada.

Limited to just 25 people, the Ontario Theatre Experience is a theatre-lover's dream, filled with a diverse roster of productions, historic theatres and discussions with actors.  And, time in between to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in both locales.

The Experience begins in Niagara-on-the-Lake, where the group will attend four performances: Mack & Mabel, (book by Michael Stewart, music and lyrics by Jerry Herman,) at Festival Theatre; Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw, directed by Jackie Maxwell, at Festival Theatre; The Philanderer, by George Bernard Shaw, directed by Alisa Palmer, at Royal George Theatre; and The Circle, by Somerset Maugham, directed by Neil Munro, at Royal George Theatre.

During their stay in Niagara, guests will lodge in the Prince of Wales Hotel, an oasis of Victorian elegance in the heart of the historic town. Its name is derived from a royal visit by the future King George V in 1901.

The theatre tour in Stratford begins on Friday, August 10 with a matinee performance of To Kill a Mockingbird, based upon the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelby Harper Lee (Artistic Director Richard Monette; Susan Schulman, Director) at the Avon Theatre.  Later that evening, one of the highlights of the week will be an intimate evening with cast members including actor Peter Donaldson, who plays Atticus Finch in the production.  The day comes to a close with the production Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance at the Tom Patterson Theatre (Artistic Director Richard Monette; directed by Diana LeBlanc).

Guests will take part in the Stratford Festival's celebration of Richard Monette, the Festival's Artistic Director, who is retiring after 14 years with the Festival.   Performances include four plays directed by Monette, as well as a guided tour of "One Man in His Time," an exhibition featuring archival costumes, props and materials from productions presented during Monette's tenure.

Additional performances on the Stratford portion of the tour are An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde, under the direction of Richard Monette at the Festival Theatre; Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors under the direction of Artistic Director Richard Monette; at the Avon Theatre; and My One and Only at the Avon Theatre; music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, book by Peter Stone and Timothy S. Mayer; director and choreographer Michael Litchefeld, original staging and choreography by Thommie Walsh and Tommy Tune.

The cost for New Theatre's Ontario Theatre Experience is $2,199 US/double occupancy and $2,749 US for a single (plus air fare) and includes a $250 donation to New Theatre, a non-profit organization.   The package also includes accommodations for six nights and ten meals.  For reservations, please call Paula Levine, New Theatre's Board of Directors co-chairperson, at (305) 361-1852, or email her at paulalevine@mindspring.com.
