Neil Simon's
Broadway Bound
at the Boca Raton Theatre Guild
January 7th - 16th, 2011

A stellar cast in what has often been called one of Neil Simon's finest works will begin a two week run in a Boca Raton Theatre Guild production at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park on January 7th.

'Broadway Bound,' Simon's semi-autobiographical play follows the fledgling careers of hopeful ‘professional comedy writers' Stanley and Eugene Jerome as they try to break into the world of show business while trying to cope with their parents' continuing marital strife. When their ‘comedy' material is finally broadcast on the radio for the first time, their family's reaction is anything but laudatory.

Time Magazine claimed the play "...firmly establish[ed] Simon's standing in the top rank of American Playwrights...the work of a master craftsman, at once literary and heartfelt...the best American play of the decade."

Acclaimed South Florida director Genie Croft (who directed the Guild's well received 2009 production of Simon's 'Chapter Two') has assembled an extremely talented group of actors: "I am so pleased to be directing 'Broadway Bound'," says Croft, "Because I feel it features some of Neil Simon's most accomplished and well crafted writing. The characters and situations are rich in the discovery of family conflicts that mix high emotion, deepening struggles, and laughter."

Jessica K. Peterson who will portray the Jeromes' mother, Kate, has worked on stages across the country, including Arkansas Rep, Blowing Rock Stage and Playmaker's Rep in North Carolina, and several theatres in Los Angeles.. She is a multiple Carbonell Award nominee, and a winner for Best Actress in The Music Lesson at Florida Stage.

Bradford Sadler (Stan) is a third year MFA graduate student at Florida Atlantic University and will soon receive his Master Degree in Acting. Among his many FAU credits are Dancing at Lughnasa, The Clearing, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. He is an adjunct professor of acting at FAU.

Barry Katz (Ben) began his career in Chicago over 40 years ago, where he wrote, directed and performed in comedy skits. His performances with Actors Community Theatre of Davie, which he co-founded and serves on the Board of Governors, include Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Boss Finley in Sweet Bird of Youth, and Superintendent Battle in Cards on the Table. He has appeared in several independent films, and television commercials.

Other cast members include Wendi Librach, James Carrie, and Keith Garsson.

Broadway Bound will run from January 7th - January 16th at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park. Performances are Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. All tickets are $18, and are on sale now.
