"Naked Boys Singing!" returns to the Waterfront Playhouse!

Back (and front) by popular demand. This delightful musical revue wowed Key West audiences two years ago and will open on Wednesday, May 21 and will run until June 14. All performances will begin at 8:30 pm. Opening night is sponsored by Dennis Beaver, Bert Whitt and Charlie Allen, and will feature a post-performance 'meet the cast' party in the sculpture garden in front of the theatre with catering by Great Events. The show does carry an Audience Advisory: Nudity and Adult Comedy.

"Naked Boys Singing!" is produced by the Key West Players/Waterfront Playhouse, a professional not-for-profit theatre, in cooperation with Adam Weinstock and Creative Concept Productions. WGAY-TV and Key West Pride Fest 2008 are partnering with the production. The final week of performances have been scheduled to coincide with this year's Pride Fest and is part of their official activities line-up.

Robert Schrock, the creator and original director of Naked Boys Singing!, returns to direct and choreograph the Waterfront production. He and producer Adam Weinstock of Creative Concept Productions have gathered together a cross section of some of the best cast members from the New York production, as well as productions from around the States and Canada. The show has been a hit with audiences from all over the world playing to sold-out houses, including many sell-out nights in Key West. The Daily News claimed the show has, "Loads of charm and theatrical savvy…really good, clean - if adult - fun!"

The 2008 production will feature an entirely new cast and will include one of Key West's homegrown performers - Spencer Gates, who has been performing in the Off-Broadway production for the past year and is returning to Key West for this production. The talented and great-looking cast includes Mr. Gates, Vash Bodde, Jay Krottinger, Michael Munoz, Ruben Navarro and Eric Potter, as well as Michael Fauss, returning as Musical Director. The professional cast has extensive credits on Broadway, Off-Broadway and regionally.

The show itself is a smart, and very funny musical revue that features 16 original songs. The numbers are by turns hilarious, poignant and wonderfully theatrical - it just so happens that the cast is very often naked. A team of 12 acclaimed writers have contributed songs - Stephen Bates, Marie Cain, Perry Hart, Shelly Markham, Jim Morgan, David Pevsner, Rayme Sciaroni, Mark Savage, Ben Schaechter, Trance Thompson, Mark Winkler and two-time Emmy Award winner, Bruce Vilanch. The show opens with "Gratuitous Nudity," in which the cast throws caution and costumes to the wind, and they never look back. Other numbers include "Naked Maid," "Robert Mitchum," "Nothin' But The Radio On," and "Perky Little Porn Star."

The charming appeal of the show brings in a diverse audience - men, women, young people, senior citizens, celebrities, clergy members and all kinds of groups. In 2002, the Off-Broadway production played to a sold-out house of NYPD officers and 9/11 First Responders. Unsure of what they might be getting into, the officers decided to attend because they "needed a night out to relax, and every single one of us enjoyed it! We went around for days singing the songs," according to Officer David Held.

Tickets for Naked Boys Singing! are $35 and available through the Waterfront box office at 305-294-5015 or online at www.waterfrontplayhouse.com. Call for group rates and to check out their locals' special on Wednesday nights. Shows run Tuesday through Saturday with a curtain of 8:30 for all performances.
