The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County's "It's What You See" luncheons are always fascinating, and Monday's gathering will be no exception. Designer Steven Stolman will interview Palm Beach interior designer Gil Walsh about integrating fine art with interior design. Walsh, known for her masterful use of color and deep knowledge of classical design, is the ideal authority to address the theme of Monday's event, "Art as the Informer: Fine Art and Interior Design." The ticketed event benefits the Council's education programs.
Walsh has worked as an interior designer for more than forty years, most notably overseeing the interior design department at one of Pittsburgh's largest architectural firms. Today, Gil Walsh Interiors maintains full-time offices in West Palm Beach and Martha's Vineyard. "Gil Walsh Interiors: A Case for Color," a lush designer's monograph, was published in 2016 and will be available for purchase at the Cultural Council. A book signing with the author will follow the luncheon.
Walsh will be interviewed by designer and author Steven Stolman, whose illustrious career is highlighted by his eponymous fashion label and his tenure as president of Scalamandre, the renowned decorative textiles house. Today, he consults on matters of marketing and brand strategy for several design-related companies, along with a prolific writing career. "The Serial Entertainer's Passion for Parties," published by Gibbs-Smith last summer, is his fourth book in four years.
The luncheon is sponsored by PNC Arts Alive, with support from Jocelyn and Robin Martin, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Vecellio, Jr.
