Miami World Cinema Center to Honor Hollywood Director
Miami Native Brett Ratner
at Miami Beach Cinematheque Friday May 13

"A Conversation with Brett" To Be Followed By Reception At The Forge

Miami, FL - To celebrate the life and work of Brett Ratner, Miami's most accomplished filmmaker; the Miami World Cinema Center (MWCC) is set to present a special tribute to the A-List director. Ratner will be on-hand for an intimate discussion moderated by MWCC Founder and C.E.O. Patrick de Bokay.

"A Conversation with Brett" will take place on Friday May 13th, 7 p.m. at the Miami Beach Cinematheque, 1130 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139.

The homage will be centered on Ratner's filmmaking career and early days growing up in Miami Beach. "Shooter Series: Volume 1" will be used as a visual guide, highlighting clips from his lesser known works including home movies, student films, music videos and commercials. Features directed by Ratner include, among others, the "Rush Hour" franchise, "Red Dragon," and "X-Men: The Last Stand." Soon to be released by Universal Pictures will be his latest directorial effort, "Tower Heist," starring Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller.

Following the event at the Cinematheque, Ratner's longtime friend, restaurateur Shareef Malnik, will host a private dinner reception for Ratner and MWCC at The Forge.

MWCC is the first non-profit film studio. Its mission is to develop and support creative talent while facilitating the growth of local job opportunities and production resources within the film industry, one of America's strongest economic engines. Since September of 2008, "The Center" has impacted thousands of local filmmakers and community members through collaboration, production, educational programs, screenings, and events. Films supported by The Center have traveled throughout the world and premiered at local, national, and international film festivals, garnering awards, prizes and recognition from the film community.
