Maplewood Playhouse opens their second season with the heartwarming and humorous play 4000 Miles opening November 2nd at the Compass Community Center. Featuring a cast of local talent, this is a show not to be missed.

A finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Drama and Time Magazine's #1 Play or Musical of 2012, Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles is a compassionate, intimate, and frequently funny play that examines the love of the family we can choose, the family we can't, and the healing power of trust.

After suffering a major loss while he was on a cross-country bike trip, 21 year-old Leo (played by newcomer Griffin Corallo of Lake Worth) seeks solace from his feisty grandmother Vera (played by local veteran actress Phyllis Spear of Delray Beach) in her West Village apartment. Over the course of a single month, these unlikely roommates infuriate, bewilder, and ultimately reach each other. 4000 MILES looks at how two outsiders find their way in today's world.

The cast is rounded out by Sarah Hardwick of Lake Worth playing Bec and Sophia Tome of West Palm Beach as Amanda. Kim Rommel-Enright of Jupiter and Helen Buttery of Lake Worthco-direct Maplewood Playhouse's production.

"The beauty of this play lies in the quiet moments that we share with the characters, especially between Leo and his grandmother Vera" states Co-director Kim Rommel-Enright. "The play is a wonderful affirmation of how the connection within a family transcends time and generations" she continued. Phyllis Spear, who plays the grandmother, adds "I am delighted to be a cast member of this warm, touching and funny show. The grandmother is a dream role and I am happy to be playing her."

All performances will take place at the Compass Community Center, located at 201 N. Dixie Hwy., Lake Worth, Florida, 33463.
