The hilarious and imaginative new musical Ever Happily After is less than two weeks away from its regional premiere at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre!

With performances April 30 and May 1 on the Theatre's stage, Ever Happily After features 22 local children in grades 3 - 5 who have been preparing for the production since January. Directed by Lea Roy, Ever Happily After features choreography by Ricky Nahas and music direction from Kim Cozort Kay.

With book by Jill Jaysen and Matthew Hardy, lyrics by Matthew Hardy and music by Randy Klein, Ever Happily After tells the story of all of the classic beloved fairy tale characters going to Cinderella's ball, with a twist: Cinderella's fairy godmother is a no-show. Featuring favorites like Pinocchio, Prince Charming, Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Belle (from Beauty and the Beast) and Penelope (from The Princess and the Pea), this whimsical and charming tale follows Cinderella's journey to realizing she doesn't need to be saved; she can save herself.

"We love classic fairy tales, but we felt that the 19th century sensibilities could use a little updating," said Hardy. "Ever Happily After takes Cinderella - and over a dozen other well-known fairy tale characters - and gives them a contemporary spin. We hope this musical not only entertains but encourages a discussion about the lessons we teach our children through storytelling."

A member of the Tony Award-winning BMI Musical Theater Workshop, Hardy is a New York-based writer and performer who appeared in the Theatre's recent professional production of Fiddler on the Roof. Jill Jaysen is the artistic director and founder of the Center Stage Theatre Company in Westport, Connecticut, and Randy Klein is the winner of three Emmy Awards for children's educational music on PBS.

The musical features design elements from a host of industry professionals, including scenic and properties design by the Theatre's properties master Casey Blanton, sound design by the Theatre's resident sound designer Marty Mets, lighting design by Ardean Landuis and costume design by Jerry Sturdefant.

Brimming with an '80s funk score and all-new orchestrations by Andy Nevala, Ever Happily After will feature performances by a full professional orchestra.

"We are ecstatic to be producing the regional premiere of this incredible, fun-filled new musical on the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's stage," said Julie Rowe, the Theatre's director of education. "Ever Happily After is a riotous, heartwarming tale that will leave audiences with a fresh perspective and new respect for their favorite fairy tale characters. Bring the whole family to enjoy this magical journey on the Theatre's stage!"

Have a prince or princess in your household? Young patrons are encouraged to wear their favorite fairy tale attire to the show and take photos at a special photo booth in the Theatre's lobby, featuring crowns, jester hats and more.

Showtimes for the Conservatory's production of Ever Happily After are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1. Tickets are $25 for adults; $20 for children. For tickets, call the Theatre's box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit www.jupitertheatre.org.
