Ever wanted to try singing, improv or tap dancing? How about creating your own web series? The Maltz Jupiter Theatre Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts has just the class for you, with exciting spring classes taught by Broadway-caliber theater professionals beginning January 9.
In addition to producing full-scale professional family shows throughout the season, the Theatre's Conservatory offers year-round learning opportunities for kids and adults of all ages, including a spring semester of exciting, fun-filled classes taught by Broadway-caliber theatre professionals. The Theatre is currently enrolling students of all ages in all levels of dance, voice, acting, musical theatre and more!
The Conservatory offers a range of ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop dance classes, as well as courses in improvisation, web series creation, acting the song, audition techniques and musical theatre.
"We have something for everyone at the Conservatory, and we are delighted that our signature Musical Theatre Production classes will be producing two full-scale musicals this spring: Flat Stanley Jr. and West Side Story," said Julie Rowe, the Theatre's director of education. "The musicals will be performed on the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's stage complete with professional production values: sets, costumes, lights, a full orchestra and more. Enrollment fees are all-inclusive, covering all costumes and performance-related costs."
Over 600 students per year come from as far as Miami, Wellington and Fort Pierce to study at the Conservatory. The connection to the Theatre allows students the opportunity to perform on the Theatre's stage and work alongside professionals both onstage and off, with hands-on workshops and master classes that offer students an opportunity to learn first-hand from nationally known directors and Broadway performers, agents and local instructors.
Upcoming opportunities for students include a holiday open mic night on December 17, an advanced acting seminar for teens on January 14 and a dance audition class on January 29. Additional seminars and workshops are scheduled throughout the spring.
An exclusive program is the Theatre's "In the Style Of" series, which offers an extra-special opportunity for Conservatory students to be selected for free, unique dance workshops with cast members from the Theatre's 2016/17 musicals Me and My Girl, The Producers and Gypsy. Attendees will be selected via lottery, open to all currently enrolled students. The first "In the Style Of" of the season is scheduled for December 11 with Me and My Girl.
Students enrolled in the Conservatory's Musical Theatre Production classes are preparing to perform The Best of Broadway Revue on the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's stage on December 29, including songs and scenes from the major musicals West Side Story, 42nd Street and Rock of Ages, as well as other traditional and holiday songs.
The Conservatory is also home to the Theatre's Professional Training Program, a premier two-year certificate program designed to train young actors for a career in theatre, musical theatre, film and television. Meant for students who have graduated from high school or are homeschooled, this competitive, audition-only program enrolls 8-12 students per class, enabling participating students to grow at an accelerated pace with extremely high classroom expectations. The only two-year professional training program in Florida affiliated with a professional regional theatre, the program's inaugural class will graduate following public performances of Godspell on the Theatre's stage July 1 and 2. Auditions for the Fall 2017 Professional Training Program class are slated for April 1.
The Conservatory's staff includes Brian Andrews, Susan Emley, Alexa Evans, Kristine DiMartino, Jay Johnson, Kim Cozort Kay, Kenneth Kay, Shelley Keelor, Sarah-Helen Land, John Mercurio, Ricky Nahas and Lea Roy.
