The Maltz Jupiter Theatre announces its eighth season of great theatre, Where Art Comes to Life. The Theatre also will offer a stellar Limited Engagements series of performances and concerts, including Kids Korner productions for families.

The 2010/2011 season will begin with Twelve Angry Men, a suspenseful drama about the effect one voice can have on a jury. The Theatre will continue with Academy, a world premiere youthful coming-of-age pop musical set in a boys prep school. Next up, is the classic family favorite, The Sound of Music, which will make your heart soar with its magical score by the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein. Then, Jolson at the Winter Garden! takes a retrospective look at the legendary entertainer. The eclectic season ends with the Gershwin tap-dancing extravaganza, Crazy for You. Who could ask for anything more?

Academy was presented in a workshop production at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and was accepted at last October's New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), where it won several awards, including the opportunity to be presented in July at South Korea's Daegu International Musical Festival. There, it won the top award for Best Musical, and cast members had the honor of ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ in New York upon their return to the U.S.

Where Art Comes to Life
2010/2011 Season Lineup

TWELVE ANGRY MEN
November 2-14

What seems like an open-and-shut murder case becomes a twisted puzzle of prejudice and intrigue. Twelve jurors are corralled in a room for the duration of their deliberation. As justice is tested and evidence weighed, the entire jury is forced to look past the show of the courtroom to unearth the shocking truth. Faced with playing the hangmen, these dozen men first must face themselves. Twelve Angry Men is a timeless masterpiece and a great examination of our judicial process.

ACADEMY
December 7-19

At St. Edward's Academy, two seniors make a harmless bet on whether they can influence an unsuspecting freshman to break a few rules to succeed. But when the transaction goes recklessly out of control, the boys become entangled in a fight for their own academic and personal survival. Inspired by Goethe's Faust, Academy is a pop chamber musical about boys learning to become men - and remaining true to themselves.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC
January 11-30

Seven rambunctious children and the most irreverent nun ever to kick a habit, welcome your family into theirs with The Sound of Music. The final musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein follows the Trapp family as they leave Austria to escape Nazi persecution. Featuring such musical favorites as My Favorite Things, Do, Re, Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Ev'ry Mountain and Sixteen Going on Seventeen, this heartwarming story is great for the entire family!

JOLSON AT THE WINTER GARDEN

February 22- March 13

At the beginning of the 20th century, Al Jolson was the most famous entertainer in the world - singer, dancer, actor, comedian, impresario, rebel, businessman, and star! In this fascinating musical, Jolson at the Winter Garden, we learn about his meteoric career that was created, lost, and reborn. Combining his hit tunes such as Swanee, Toot Toot Tootsie and My Mammy, with hilarious stories and touching memories, this will be a thrilling and unforgettable night in the theatre!

CRAZY FOR YOU
March 29- April 17
Crazy for You is a high-energy musical comedy packed with mistaken identity, plot twists and fabulous dance numbers that will keep you grinning from ear to ear. Overflowing with hit Gershwin songs, including I've Got Rhythm, They Can't Take That Away From Me and Shall We Dance, this Broadway hit crosses good, old-fashioned entertainment with a feel-good message about being true to your dreams. Who could ask for anything more?
