The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is set to offer a stellar season of outstanding concerts, plays, films and children's shows.
Tickets to the Theatre's 2010/2011 season of Limited Engagements go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010.
Highlights include the special Limited Engagement, Zero Hour, with
Jim Brochu portraying the great actor
Zero Mostel, and concerts by the Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band, Chris MacDonald, Barrage, The Celtic Tenors and Jay and the Americans.
"We're thrilled to bring
Jim Brochu's Zero Hour to our stage," said
Andrew Kato,
Maltz Jupiter Theatre Artistic Director. Brochu recently won a
Helen Hayes Award for his dead-on impersonation of the larger-than-life Brochu. Zero Hour will run during the course of two weeks, from October 14-24.
There also will be performances by The
Capitol Steps, One Man Star Wars Trilogy, Defending the Caveman and The Second City. And this year, the Theatre will offer screenings of the movies Twelve Angry Men, The Sound of Music and The Jazz Singer to complement shows in its 2010/2011 season, Where Art Comes to Life.
This year's line-up offers shows that are sure to appeal to the whole family.
"We are so proud of our wonderful series of concerts and other performances," Kato said. "And our Kids Korner series is a great opportunity to introduce young people to the magic of theatre." The series of seven shows will include original works by Julie Rowe, director of education at the Theatre's Conservatory of Performing Arts, and is designed to make the
Maltz Jupiter Theatre a destination for young theatre-goers.

Saturday, August 28 - Kids Korner Series presents The Tortoise and the Hare
Join Tortoise, Hare and their forest friends in this classic Aesop fable, which teaches us tolerance, patience, and that slow and steady wins the race! Showtime is 2 p.m. All tickets are $12.
Saturday, October 9 - Kids Korner Series presents The Hundred Dresses
This endearing tale, based on Eleanor Estes' book, shows Wanda's story about taking responsibility and living with the consequences of our actions. Showtime is 2 p.m. All tickets $12. Produced by the Eckerd Theatre Co.

Monday, October 18 - Twelve Angry Men - the Movie
Twelve men are in a jury room where the guilt or innocence of a youth accused of murder is at stake when an exploration of the issue "beyond a reasonable doubt" ensues. Stars Henry Fonda. Showtime is 7 p.m. Free event; advance tickets are required.
Saturday, October 23 - Kids Korner Series presents School House Rock Live
A story about a nervous teacher and his first day of school and how he learns to win over his students with imagination and music. Showtime is 10 a.m. All tickets $12. Produced by Stages Productions.
Saturday, November 20 - Kids Korner Series presents The Ugly Duckling
This high-energy production features giant puppets singing and dancing to tell the story of finding your true self and being happy with who you are. Stars the Pink Flamingo. Showtime is 2 p.m. All tickets $12. Produced by Bits'N Pieces Puppet Theatre.
Monday, December 20 - Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band Holiday Concert
It's your chance to hear popular and traditional Christmas songs played by the full band, plus surprise performances by vocal and instrumental soloists, in a joyous celebration of the holiday season. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets $12.
Wednesday, December 29 - The Sound of Music - The Movie
The hills come alive with
Julie Andrews in this classic filled with memorable music that will make this film one of your favorite things. Sing along to such hits as Climb Ev'ry Mountain, The Lonely Goatherd and Do-Re-Mi. Showtime is 7 p.m. Free event; advance tickets are required. Subject to change.
Friday, December 31, and Saturday, January 1 - The Capitol Steps - New Year's Eve and Day
The group that put "mock" in democracy is back with a hilarious new show to ring in the New Year. Come along for the ride as they take a humorous look at some serious issues. Friday showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. Tickets are $50, $60 and $85 for special VIP seats with Champagne toast, and meet and greet.
Sunday, January 16 - Chris MacDonald's Memories of Elvis
Chris MacDonald's show is a natural, heartfelt tribute to the King of Rock and Roll. Adding to the authenticity of his tribute, MacDonald has the honor of being the only tribute artist hired by
Elvis Presley Enterprises to perform at Graceland's Heartbreak Hotel for seven consecutive years. Showtime is 8 p.m. All tickets $45.
Saturday, February 5 - One Man Star Wars Trilogy
The off-Broadway play features
Charles Ross portraying all of the characters, sound effects and music of Star Wars. He even fights with himself as he explores the movies. "You had better start investing in a light sabre," wrote The New York Times. Showtime is 8 p.m. All tickets $30.
Saturday, February 5 - Kids Korner Series presents Jack and the Beanstalk
Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum, join the adventure of Jack and the Beanstalk as he visits magical places
by climbing the tall beanstalk into the clouds. Showtime is 12 p.m. All tickets $12.
Monday, February 7 - The Jazz Singer - The Movie
The first "talkie" - the 1927 musical film starring
Al Jolson about the son of a Jewish cantor who defies his father to pursue his dream of being a pop singer. Showtime is 7 p.m. Free event; advance tickets are required. Subject to change.
Wednesday, February 9 and Thursday, February 10 - Defending the Caveman
The longest running solo play in Broadway history focuses on the hilarious ways men and women relate. It has been seen in 45 countries and translated into 30 languages. Audiences will laugh at themselves as they see all the ways men and women fight, laugh and love. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets $40.
Friday, February 11 - Barrage
The high-octane fiddle-fest features an international, multitalented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance. The music of Barrage continues to evolve - combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. Saturday, March 19 - Kids Korner Series presents I Never Saw Another Butterfly
True story of the children of Terezin Concentration Camp during World War II told through the remaining artwork and poetry, a triumph of the human spirit! Showtime is 12 p.m. All tickets $12.
Sunday, March 20 - Tina Sloane-McPherson's Changing Shoes
Tina Sloan, a successful actress who starred for many years on The Guiding Light, has a chance encounter with an old pair of shoes, sending her on a journey she never planned to take. Join Tina, who also is a wife and mother, as she searches for the answer to life's ultimate question at the bottom of a closet and finds a reason to celebrate her life rather than give up as she ages. Showtime is 8 p.m. All tickets $35.
The
Maltz Jupiter Theatre's 2010/2011 season, Where Art Comes to Life, features five plays and musicals: the courtroom drama Twelve Angry Men (November 2-14); the world premiere of the coming-of-age musical Academy (December 7-19); Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music (January 11-30); a look at a great performer, Jolson at the Winter Garden (February 22-March 13); and the Gershwin tap-dance extravaganza Crazy for You (March 29-April 17).
