Lynn University's Conservatory of Music Hosts 19 Musical Events in March and April

"Our talented students and extraordinary faculty look forward to sharing the beautiful world of music throughout our seventh season in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, a world-class concert hall that enhances our performing artists' musical offerings," said Robertson. "We will present a variety of musical offerings designed to enrich the artistic spirit and nourish the soul."
This season's Conservatory of Music concerts run through April in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall and the new Snyder Sanctuary, all located on Lynn's Boca Raton campus.
March 2
Mostly Music: Schumann
One of the finest composers of the Romantic era, Robert Schumann (1810-1856) focused on composing only after a hand injury ended his ambitions as a pianist. He was blessed with genius and a loving wife, but spent his final days in a mental institution. Mostly Music was conceived and is hosted by Marshall Turkin and is staged by Jan McArt.

Sheng-Yuan Kuan Piano Recital
Lynn's resident staff pianist will present a solo recital of romantic and sensational works from the piano literature.

Brigadoon
A collaborative concert of the Lynn Philharmonia Orchestra and the Live at Lynn Series, this showcase musical features a full cast of professional stage performers who bring this old-fashioned time-travel romance to life through song, dance and fanciful Highlands regalia. Book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Frederick Loewe.

Back in the Subways with Roberta Rust and Friends
Every March since 2010, after cellist Dale Henderson played J.S. Bach alone in New York's subways, thousands of musicians in 40 countries have offered Bach's music free to the public. In this second annual event at Lynn, Rust and her colleagues and students offer Bach again, free for the listening.

Bassoon Master Class with Martin Kuuskmann
Grammy-nominated bassoon virtuoso Kuuskmann has earned a reputation as one of the leading solo instrumentalists today. Kuuskmann, who currently teaches at the Manhattan School of Music, serves as the woodwind coach of the Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic. He is a founding member of the New York City-based Absolute Ensemble.

Guest Bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann
Lisa Leonard, piano
Known for his charismatic and commanding performances, Kuuskmann has been called "the amazing bassoonist" by The New York Times. A graduate of Yale and the Manhattan School of Music, he regularly teaches at the Arosa Music Academy in Switzerland.

Penderecki String Quartet "Informance"
The eminent Canadian quartet presents an "Informance." Both entertaining and informative, the event features the quartet at work as they explore new music and demonstrate in-depth rehearsal techniques.

From the studio of Eric Van der Veer Varner comes the Lynn Conservatory Bassoon Concert. Students and faculty collaborate on solo works, duos, trios and quartets, all featuring the sound of that most regal of instruments, the bassoon.

Violin Master Class with Elmar Oliveira
Internationally renowned performer Elmar Oliveira, Lynn's Distinguished Artist in Residence, is a devoted teacher and promoter of young violinists. He was the first violinist to receive the coveted Avery Fisher Prize and the first and only American violinist to win the Gold Medal at Moscow's prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition.
