Lynn University's Conservatory Of Music Hosts 12 Musical Events In November And December

Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia Guest Conductor, today invited the public to attend 12 musical performances during November and December 2017, including the 15th annual Gingerbread Holiday Concert Sunday, Dec. 10.

Lynn Conservatory of Music concerts run through next May in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall or the Snyder Sanctuary, all located on Lynn's Boca Raton campus. The Gingerbread Holiday Concert will be held at Boca Raton Resort and Club.

Nov. 2

Mostly Music Series: Haydn

Franz Joseph Haydn lived in an era when musicians were considered servants like other hired help in the household, but he lived on to play an integral role in the creation and development of the great Classical style, inspiring Mozart and teaching Beethoven.

Nov. 4

Laura Bennett Cameron, bassoon

Dr. Laura Bennett Cameron (principal, Dallas Winds; University of Texas-Arlington) will present a recital of French music by composer Roger Boutry (b. 1932, Grand Prix de Rome). The repertoire, representing more than 50 years of the composer's life, is varied in style and instrumentation, includes original compositions as well as arrangements of works by Fauré and Debussy.

Violin Master Class with Elmar Oliveira

Internationally renowned performer Elmar Oliveira, Lynn's Distinguished Artist in Residence, is a devoted teacher and promoter of young violinists. He was the first violinist to receive the coveted Avery Fisher Prize and the first and only American violinist to win the Gold Medal at Moscow's prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition.

Distinguished American pianist Peter Serkin, whose rich musical heritage spans several generations, will be presented in a solo piano recital.

4th Annual Lynn Chamber Music Competition Final Round

Lynn's chamber music program has gained national recognition through its partnership with the Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York, which presents the winning group of our annual Chamber Music Competition in a New York debut recital at the Kosciuszko Foundation.

15th Annual Gingerbread Holiday Concert

Now in its 15th year of making the holidays merry and bright, Lynn University's annual Gingerbread Holiday Concert at the Boca Raton Resort and Club attracts friends and families of all ages to enjoy musical classics of the season. Lynn Conservatory of Music Dean Jon Robertson will lead the university's Philharmonia in this pops concert. He event will also include a special piece from Disney's Frozen, an appearance by princess Elsa and photos with Santa. Event proceeds benefit the Lynn Conservatory of Music, which provides scholarships to talented student musicians who often graduate with positions at the world's top orchestras.
